The simple, short and to the point answer is yes. It most certainly does. Many renters have pets, and even more want the option to know that eventually finding their own furry friend is an opportunity or option awaiting them. Properties that allow pets, even just smaller pets tend to rent much quicker.
If you are nervous about the pets that could be brought into your home, but are ok with a small dog or cat, consider making it worth your while monetarily. Charge a pet fee, make the deposit larger or non refundable depending on the type and number of pets. You can do this per pet or for just one pet. Also, pet rent is an option, it can range from an additional $10 a month to $75 or more. The key is making the situation something you are comfortable with that works for you and your tenant.
Tell us your experience with pets in your rentals. We love a good story.
